Yeah, good point. This year has been terrible. But like I said... I know it's good numbers in todays boxing landscape and especially this year... but this was the most important fight of the year and the only 3 belt unification of 2014, I believe. I just expected it to get 1.7-1.8.

    Wishful thinking, I suppose

Shouldn't this fight have reignited interest?

Golovkin had better numbers against Curtis freaking Stevens. That's not right.

This is what's wrong with boxing... people are fans of the fighters individually rather than being fans of the sport... People who idolize and worship things always bring everything down...

He's Mexican and I used to watch his father so I'll watch him.... even though he has very basic skill and fights terrible opposition and the one time he stepped up in comp he was dominated...

How can people complain about the number for this fight lol? Anyone who had any common sense knew that Kovalev was going to dominate this fight... this fight was one last payday and hype... HBO is very happy they put up a 50 year old who never engaged and just ran and tried to make the fight a stinker all night... Hopkins never tried to win a round.. he tried to land one shot and get lucky...

Tell Andre Ward to stop being a ***** and move up and fight Kov.. Kov's fights get higher ratings.. he brings more to the table than Andre never leave America especially not Cali...

Just because he doesnt play the age card doesnt mean it's not there (people can think for themselves). His analysis was based on where they are in their current situation. Roundbabout 15 years ago he was slapping the sh.. out of Trinidad when his defense/speed/counter punching was way quicker/better. I'm not saying he got old overnight, he got older the last 15 years....and his fights show that. So to say that Kovalev would have beaten B-hop 15 years ago seems like a stretch to me.
I respect what you're trying to say. But to believe that Bernard would go from winning 0 rounds to at least 7 or 8 against Kovalev, if he was 15 years younger is an estimation I would not bet on. Trinidad physically and stylistically is nothing like Kovalev. Bernard's style stalls punchers and brawlers, but he always had trouble with patient boxers that feint well with him. Kovalev may not have the speed of Trinidad, but his size, power, boxing ability and gameplan would've given any version of BHOP major problems. To me, Tarver was the only other fighter that had the ability to beat Bernard, but he was ****y and had the wrong gameplan. What Bernard did to him was a thing of beauty! The perfect underdog setup. But Kova is a the real deal. He has killer power, a chin and can box. Like any big-time athlete, he may get lazy one day. But I won't bet against him anytime soon.

I'm not sure wich patient boxers you are reffering to....i thought kovalev would win (given the current situation). But aint no way i think that he would have beaten him 15 years ago. I won't bet against Kovalev either anytime soon but thats because nobody is out there in the division?

So in your estimation, would a 35 yr old Hopkins win every round against the same Kovalev? I just don't see that. And I see Kovalev as better than the guys like Taylor & Dawson that previously beat BHOP. And Kovalev is more disciplined and patient than those guys.
