Wow. Am I the only one kinda disappointed with those numbers? Sure, 1.3 million is good compared to everything else this year and in recent times.

But for a fight on regular HBO.... a unification on the line with not two, but 3 belts on the line and the top 2 LHW's..... 1.3 seems criminally low. I was expecting at least 1.8 million.

Boxing will never be dead and its booming all over the world right now, and while 1.3 million is still a lot of people, it just shows that not enough people care about the big/best/good fights and it's just a big popularity contest with casual fans. I.E Danny Garcia-Rob Dyrderek getting 1 million viewers.

all I can say is iI really hope 2015 has a ****e in numbers if the trend continues or drops further that's not a good sign at all

Numbers are down this year. When you give the public a great year like 2013 full of classic fights and follow it up with dirge like 2014, people lose interest.

Lead-in didn't help..."Sadam Ali and Luis Carlos Abregu, which averaged 882,000 viewers" per Rafael.

If Hopkins was more competitive maybe it would've had a higher peak.

Most of all, Bernard was truly humbled for the first time. He didn't even try to say "if was younger....." and he's always the first to justifiably play the age card. His analysis was strictly based on Kovalev's size, skills and gameplan. In his prime, I believe BHOP would've won rounds, but still lost. Bernard would still have trouble getting inside.
Bernard gives props when he is beaten decisively, he is a reasonable fair man.
Just because he doesnt play the age card doesnt mean it's not there (people can think for themselves). His analysis was based on where they are in their current situation. Roundbabout 15 years ago he was slapping the sh.. out of Trinidad when his defense/speed/counter punching was way quicker/better. I'm not saying he got old overnight, he got older the last 15 years....and his fights show that. So to say that Kovalev would have beaten B-hop 15 years ago seems like a stretch to me.
