A very tough good fighter who probably over achieved in what people expected from him. I still think he should have another loss on his record because he lost the Dirrell fight but anyway, thats history. He took on all comers, won some and lost some and is respected by everyone. He's had a very good career.

I'd have still liked him to step up to LHW to test himself there and try to be a two weight world champion but he's had a good career so if he goes out now then fair play to him.

Watching Froch is a firm reminder to me that those who criticize the Jack Dempseys of yester-year (a far, far greater fighter than Froch) as being unskilled brawlers and think they wouldn't compete in this era need to think again.
I forgot about his Ring IQ. Yeah, he's a very smart fighter. Ring IQ/chin/stamina.... lets be real here- when those are your best attributes as a boxer and someone has to say you have "subtle offensive" skills, yet you're hailed as this great/ HOF like fighter due to the competition you faced..... you have to be:

overrated as hell and your competition was "top competition" ranking wise, but none of those guys were very good and were simply products of a bad era

This is just my opinion. I made a thread a few weeks ago about Froch's SMW era being criminally overrated and most of the "top guys" he fought being nothing but plodders like himself.... I asked people to tell me what skills he has that makes him so great and ignore his resume against overrated plodders. And the most people came up with is the 3 mentioned in this post. Chin-Stamina-Ring IQ.

Hardly a great fighter. But hey.... he benefited from a terrible SMW era and now he's rich. Good on him

A true caveman with absolutely no skills besides great stamina and a good chin (even though he hardly faced any big punchers. Groves. Lol) Literally no other skills.... he's slow as hell, he's a plodder, has average power at best. The man fights like a drunken sailor at a bar fight on port in the Ba***** in the 1700s.

Dude just simply isn't skilled whatsoever. Perfect example of a tough guy with only tough guy attributes (chin, stamina) that made his career by fighting other slow plodders in a weak and terrible division (sure, they were the top the division had to offer.... but they all ******. I.E Daniel Geale being a top MW when GGG fought him but just being an average fighter)

I like Froch, he's a tough guy.... but no one wants to admit he's simply not very good.
When you read this post, keep in mind that this guy said Martin Murray is one of the most complete fighters in the sport

Ring IQ, power, chin, stamina, offensive skills...not bad at all.

You're going too harsh on Froch...

In the IT terms he's like WYSIWYG... He's for real and he never pretended he's anybody else... The guy was always truthful -- which makes him a real MAN...

The Zamunda expat proves to have had acquired some proper knowledge on the sport under question here -- other than the mandingo fighting.

Come on man, let us have this one.

We can't all be hairy, pot-bellied recreational skiers. We just aren't supreme athletes like that.

Power? Froch has average power, at best. Hardly something to boast about. He has 4 KO's since he fought Pascal in 2008...... 2 of those are against George Groves. Hardly a guy with power.

What offensive skills does he have? He's slow, he plods, he's not athletic. He has a jab and a hook and fights like a drunken bar fighter

Can you provide some insight as to why you think my post is wrong? Please.

Is Carl Froch anything more then a tough guy with tough guy attributes, who got by on "will and grit" in a weak and terrible era at 168, filled with nothing but overrated fighters like himself?
