That's right. I am a step-child myself, as it happens, but the inference that the ginger step-child is even more unwanted is what really annoys me about this.

Go check out your Oxford dictionary. It should be right next to your Sun cream.
I'm not "ginger" myself and all racial slurs are just sayings. Idiot.

You assuming that I must be ginger myself to find that particular phrase offensive says a lot about the kind of person you are, btw.

Definition of red-headed stepchild in English:

        NOUN

        informal , chiefly US

A person or thing that is neglected, unwanted, or mistreated:
audio has always been something of a red-headed stepchild in the PC world
IE: Bernard Hopkins got beaten up like a red headed stepchild last night. It's a phrase.

Nobody says, Bernard Hopkins got beaten up like a nappy haird stepchild or Bernard Hopkins got beaten up like a slant eyed stepchild Idiot.

Maybe the writer should have used the term black sheep but then idiots like you might say, "That's racist" lol

The writer was borrowing a well known phrase, but you're right, it's kind of a crass and offensive one.

"Boxing's Ginger Stepchild." What a crass and ******ly offensive phrase for a professional writer to use. Hang your head in shame Kurt Ward, whoever - or whatever - you are.
the editors have full control with the title not the author.

I know it's a well known phrase - used by people who are either trying to be crass and offensive or just too ****** and/or lazy to think about what they are saying.

It's not the kind of phrase I would expect a writer at a site like this to use and I'm surprised the editers didn't pull them up about it.

                **** you Kurt Ward.

Its okay to make fun of red heads, but no one else? If he said something about whites, blacks,Hispanics, etc everybody would be in an uproar.

Plus CW isn't that bad of a division.

the boneheads complaining would be wise to make sure they understand that before attacking someone.

cruiserweight will always have the same problem. whenever a truly great fighter comes along they won't stick around they may grab a belt, may even stick around long enough to unify but will then go up to heavyweight. So the best cruiserweight can hope to have over any protracted period are several pretty good guys an no long lasting completely awesome/dominant guy
