It might seem pedantic but Kovalev and Golovkin are more Central Asian than European. Kovalev is from somewhere in the Ural mountains.

Ex-Soviet is probably a better way to describe them. They're from a school of boxing with a long tradition that could well be major force in the sport in the years ahead.

Funny how a Soviet dude had a major hand in developing the Cuban amateur system, yet stylistically they're radically different.

after he unifies he will move to hw.

of those in the poll it's likely lomachenko will have the best legacy, he's the youngest of them and has 2 gold medals and already world champion in his third pro fight(insain).
He will probably be champion in several weight classes, golovkin also has the chance to be champion in more then one weight class.

Its harder for kovalev because his body frame wont allow him to go down in weight and moving up to cruiser is a big gap in weight.

TS seems surprised by the domination from eastern european fighters but it's really no surprise if your from europe.
Americans get brainwashed with sentences like easter europeans are all strenght and no skill.

I break it down: If soviet still was around they would have had the most olympic medals of all the countries by a mile.

In soviet there was not allowed to box as a pro, when soviet falled apart in year 92, a few choosed to turn pro and you could see the signs early with fighters like kostya tsyu: argubly the best jr ww ever, Dariusz Michalczewski: light hw champ, vassily jirov: cw champ, golota: mentally weak but had the fysical tools and skill as you could se n two fights with bowe, Oleg maskaev: contender known for knocking hasim rahman out of ring, so the signs where there and in 96 after klitschko won gold medal as youngest ever in his weight class he turned pro and big bro already was champion in 1999(wbo belt).

So it's likely if the soviet had allowed pro boxing there is a high possibility that many of the old greats would had russian names.

But it hasn't been easy for eastern europeans to make it big in the usa, experts and commentators has downplayed their performances and fooled audience to thinking they lack skills and making excuses when their fighter loses.

When greenburger was at hbo they didn't wanna show any eastern europeans that where good. Remember dmitry pirog aganst daniel jacobs, pirog showed a master class boxing with athletism and skills, having KO of the year contender.
He was not gratulated with his new belt or interviewed after the fight and where not welcomed back.
Luckily greenburg left hbo, if not it's a big possibility many of you wouldn't known much about golovkin.
Look at kovalevs story, he fought his 16 first pro fights in usa for free, nobody wanted to sign him. Had he been a latino/ american that would not have been the case naturally.
