The one question in my interpretation of the comments, wound up being this:

* Who are the REAL matchmakers in boxing????

1.)Is it the promoter? 2.)Is it the manager of one fighter? 3.) Who, out of the particulars mentioned, should be the final word on match-making?

There appears to be significant confusion in this regard, especially when you have people like Haymon in the mix.

the fighters should be the last word, but most fighters today are cowards so they let their manager/promoter say whos next cause they know they want to give your the easiest fight with the most pay cause thats how they get paid.

Look at canelo he not a coward, and he bee having the last word on who he fights for that last few years now.

It could have been easy for him to just say leave it to my promoters and instead of lara fight a kirkland or a tapia lol but he said naw this is who I want to fight and thats it.

Why doesn't Haymon just give a ****** interview? he is not shy at all, and sometimes he would even sit on the stage next to Ellerbe before.

Yet he never gives a single interview, that to me smells shady.

Your ignorance, though reprehensible is not suprising. fighters always are loved or hated by the American boxing public. It has to do with two misconceptions: that fighters are rich and that fighters are big strong tough guys, in control of their destiny. Sure, we look at Tyson in his prime, the cold hard killer, the guy who will punch a grandma in the mouth....Its all a show.

the cold hard killers are the promoters. As I have said before if this poster, or anyone else thought about it it would be realized that there fundamentally does not have to be any promoter involved. Fighters are part of an exciting sport, why the need to promote fights? If fights were on regular television, the public would know the sport, there would be less PPV stuff and no promoters to pay.

Promoters are the middle men, they treat fighters like children and leave them high and dry. Fighters need managers and trainers....Al Haymon could not do either of these if his life depended upon it. Fighters are victimized because they cannot fight without a promoter now. Its a racket and fighters are abused and exploited like everyone else but the promoters.

Wheter you hate him or love him you can't deny it. Al Haymon is the biggest boss in boxing. The world has never heard his voice yet his word is the most powerful.

note to a fighter coming up: gradually take on good quality oposition, if you lose you were going to lose any closer you got to the top anyway. the only way to be great is if you beat those that are very good.
