Like Bhop say 'it's about clearing out your division and being the best' but if you can't do that then what ? Great, great career but no one wants to see him get hurt.Sure he can still beat most light heavies but for anyone inc. the alien life at fifty should not inc. a boxing ring any more .I really hope he retires with all his millions and himself intact , how many guys at nearly fifty can look themselves in the mirror as the Alien can ?

Why not if some jerk wants to pay him! Just another "slide on the ropes" performance from a guy who's learned how to survive and win but against a slightly better opponent takes the loss "graciously"! All BS, from Bernard!
The guy has made a career out of fooling people who think he's boxing or that he's "out thinking" his opponents!! What a joke...get rid of this clown and take Mayweather and Wlad with you so that boxing can reestablish itself as a viable sport again. These guys a raping the sport and the younger generation of fans actually think that their terrific boxers, total joke!!!
Last night the guy didn't even try to win...........he simply survived!!!

But its time. He should retire and run boxing.
He is smarter than Oscar and has a vision for boxing.
Would love if he becomes a big time broker.
Hopkins should retire like the legend he is!
... But it's hard to retire, especially when you are B-Hop... he could even fight Adonis -- but Adonis also knows the game from the distance...

I don't think it's necessarily time to call it a day (although I would not complain) just because of this loss. I mean, a 49 year old Hopkins has been the only person to even be able to last 12 rounds against Kovalev in the past two years.
Against any other LHW not named Kovalev, he probably wins so it's not like he is some washed up boxer living a pipe dream.

I'm more concerned with judging fighters in their primes against top competition.. boxing has gone away from that in order to try to sell meaningless fights... Kovalev will never credit for this win because people will say Hopkins was close to 50 years old. But Kovalev did it in order to get his name up. Let's be concerned with making the best fights not caring about if some 50 year old beats up cab drivers like Shumenov or whatever his name is...
Let's focus on Kovalev vs Stevenson or Ward... Stevenson won't happen because of the networks...so Ward should move up and fight Kovalev..he's already beaten everyone at 168...
