Hopkins has trouble with tall rangy fighters that can box. Like Dawson. Never did he have a chance against kovalev or Dawson. And most importantly he couldn't get in their head.

That is a factor and why I thought Stevenson despite his skillset would of been the easier opponent for Bernard he could of rattled him more imo.

Props to Kovalev I think Hopkins actually still has his reflexes but Kovalev was being smart and hurting him constantly. Even if B-Hop is 49 people have to give Kovalev his props he won every round and showed great boxing ability and the composure of a true champion. I really hope Stevenson fights Kovalev he has the power to beat him but I'd pick Kovalev/

Have you people not been listening to what Hopkins said in the post-fight interview? He wasn't using his time to make excuses, he actually gave honest post-fight analysis like a commentator would.

He said that Kovalv's footwork and the way he stepped out of danger after throwing punches forced B-Hop to reset and he couldn't get off. So there it is in a nutshell from the man who was in that ring, and he would know better then all of us.

Hopkins beat a lot of opponents when they weren't at their best in his career... capitalized on fighting in a weak Middleweight division... and beating smaller stars moving up... he beat Roy Jones when Jones was washed up... he beat Winky at 170 in a boring fight when Winky had slowed down... he beat Tarver after Tarver had to lose a lot of weight for Rocky...

Hopkins did beat Pavlick but Pavlick was just not that good... Hopkins does have a legit win over Pascal also but Pascal isn't that great is he?

Hopkins was dominated by Dawson and Calzaghe... lost twice to JT...

good win for kova, i really underestimated his skills, but is it safe to say that maybe his ko power is a little over rated now???/ i mean be hop got hit with big shots and walked away like he was never in a fight....just saying 270 people picked kova by ko in the master thread poll..

I will have to watch the fight again but him not knocking out Hopkins has some to do with Bernard's chin and also the ability to slip and turn with the punches. There is a difference when a stationary fighter gets caught clean and absorbs the full power of the punch, and Hopkins who constantly is on the move in one form or another. Even when a punch land on him, he is turning with it taking some of the power away.

I'm shocked people are giving props to Hopkins for running for 12 rounds lol.. Oh yes, what a heroic performance by Hopkins running to survive for 12 rounds and in the 12th round he didn't "hurt" Kova with a "neck shot" lol.. Nice try to pump up his lack of performance...

This is the same Hopkins who ran and barely engaged Calzaghe only difference was he was much older and engaged even less against Kov..

I scored it 7 rounds to 5 for Kovalev, but obviously a 10-8 round in the first.

I definitely thought Hopkins controlled about 4 or 5 of the rounds with his distance and making Kovalev miss. If Hopkins was a little more active then i'd have no problem scoring the fight either way.
