Nope. He never had a chance.

This fight was over the moment it was signed.

But props to Hop for taking it

Like I said kovalev is not your typical mindless powerpuncher. He picks his shots and has that amateur pedigree. The jabs to the body, feints and distance control was too good for the old man.

I picked him by KO/TKO and was wrong but that's a testament to the greatness of BHOP.

Good win for Kovalev. The old man is finally done. Please hang them up.

I picked Kovalev by decision. I was originally thinking those people picking Kovale by KO was just wishful thinking, but even though he didn't get the KO, it kind of looked like Kovalev could have done it if he wanted to. He should have blitzkrieged Hopkins the entire fight like he did after the KD in round 1 and in round 12 instead of unnecessarily pacing himself. There really wasn't much for Kovalev to fear.

good win for kova, i really underestimated his skills, but is it safe to say that maybe his ko power is a little over rated now???/ i mean be hop got hit with big shots and walked away like he was never in a fight....just saying 270 people picked kova by ko in the master thread poll..

Apparently when building a chin moon rocks are even better than iron or granite. Props to both men.

I scored it 7 rounds to 5 for Kovalev, but obviously a 10-8 round in the first.

I definitely thought Hopkins controlled about 4 or 5 of the rounds with his distance and making Kovalev miss. If Hopkins was a little more active then i'd have no problem scoring the fight either way.

Wow cannot believe what I saw. 50 year old being brutally given blow after blow to the head and nobody dared to stop it out of foolish pride. Bernard looked shook, I mean psychiatrically shooked. He's definitely concussed.

That's how people get hurt. Hopkins didnt make it 49 years by taking uneccessary punishment like that. I think they were just trying to maintain hopkins record of never being knocked out or stopped.

                    ****** ****** move ..
The pussification of Boxing (by fans like this), asking for a fight to be stopped where a guy wasn't getting punished for the entire 12 rounds but got caught up in a last round exchange.

My, my -- I wonder how many of fighters in the olden days would have KO losses on their record if it were up to guys like this when a fight gets stopped.

Kovalev held back all night. Amazing to me that he didn't lose a round.
