There was no reason to stop the fight in the 12th. Hopkins came out relatively unmarked and spoke well after the fight. It was a great night for Kovalev. He fought brilliantly. But what really was proven was that Hopkins could go the distance against Kovalev. Now THAT is a fact.

I think that some of these people were just dying for a Hopkins KO loss, therefore a bemoaning the fact that it didn't get stopped prematurely, because they would be OK with something like that.

Simply put, if the fight got stopped based on what happened, a KO win on Kov's record would be undeserved.

Hopkins has nothing to worry about. He fought the boogieman. He showed everyone how to run into the fire and stand behind your words. Like Kovalev suggested, he can still get the glory and fight and beat Stevenson. Kovalev has unfinished business with Beterbiev and will wait patiently for him and everyone else who deserves a shot. Hopkins beat a lot of opponents when they weren't at their best in his career... capitalized on fighting in a weak Middleweight division... and beating smaller stars moving up... he beat Roy Jones when Jones was washed up... he beat Winky at 170 in a boring fight when Winky had slowed down... he beat Tarver after Tarver had to lose a lot of weight for Rocky...

Hopkins did beat Pavlick but Pavlick was just not that good... Hopkins does have a legit win over Pascal also but Pascal isn't that great is he?

Hopkins was dominated by Dawson and Calzaghe... lost twice to JT...

Oh here we go. So now we have this type to deal with.

The all around Critic who is ****ting on Hopkins' entire career. Not worth the trouble responding to that. Those types of debates we usually get into in Non-post-fight threads.

I like how Kovalev didn't commit to chasing Stevenson (after Kellerman's smug ass made to sure to let us all know that he is the "lineal" Champion) by saying that Hopkins would beat Stevenson. Good move by Sergei.

He has three belts and the other guy is ducking him, no need to be desperate.

That philly shell shoulder roll was not working man, I think the only guy who should be allowed to do that is floyd, even in the Murat fight, Hopkins Philly shell was getting cracked.. He tucked his chin in the shoulder but was getting pounded on the side of the head, floyd does it in a way where the entire punch breezes by him.
