i dunno. i think 7-day which already started when manny was still in hongkong three days ago is not sufficent to do all those things.
i wonder why wbc put a deadline in that letter. does anybody know how many months mab has to defend his title against the #1 contender? isn't that 3 months from the most recent fight of the champion/challenger?Last edited by JaNnO; 03-11-2006, 03:15 PM.

Didnt Larios lose his last bout? Pac should rematch Barrera, and if he wins then go after Larios/Morales.

seven days? and it was delivered when manny was on vacation with his family overseas and upon gbh's insistence to sulaiman.
see the thing is, Its not actually 7 days... Manny and his people have known that he became Barrera's mandatory for over 1.5 months when he wont the eliminator. The WBC is simply saying hey your the champ u have to agree to fight ur mandatory or we'll take ur belt and hey your the mandatory u have to agree to fight the champ or you wont be the #1 mandatory anymore.

Seven days of hesitation cannot be equal to two years of the same.
Re: where the challenge came from. Someone on this thread mentioned that Golden Boy Promotions wrote WBC that Barrera is interested in meeting Pac. Before that letter, there obviously was narry a peep from WBC about the need to enforce its rules.
Moreover, lest it be forgotten, Barrera's camp issued a challenge to fight the winner of Erik-Pac II. When Pac won, Barrera and company scampered to resurrect what had been claimed as a shelved Chavez meeting. No talk of the need to enforce WBC rules then. When that Chavez fight was aborted, it took them well over a month before they started talking about the need to enforce the WBC rules. Nothing was heard before Pac announced plans other than meeting Barrera. Why not earlier? Say, right after Morales-Pac II? And the way they want to enforce it is to give Pac's camp a week to consider fighting Barrera. Not a day more. Why the hurry when they themselves took their time?
So, the 7 day period is only to decide on whether to fight Barrera or not, and not the time to be spent on training. The question on why so little time is allowed begs even more for an answer: if so much time can be had for training, why not a little more for making a decision? Or, more time to get the legal complexi****** out of the way? (e.g., Pac's other commitments that were concluded before the WBC came into the picture)
It's still dead salmon under the moonlight to me. It glows but it stinks.Last edited by grayfist; 03-11-2006, 03:12 PM.

Grayfist, here is an excerpt of that news that GBH wrote a letter to WBC, then WBC to team Pac.
With HBO and Oscar Larios pulling out of Pacman’s Manila tune-out fight because of the unstable political situation as assessed by the former, and the lack of publicity for his career without HBO as appraised by the latter. A possibility of Pacquiao-Marco Antonio “Baby Faced Assassin“ Barrera rematch looms in the horizon after July 22, 2006 as seen by those profit motivated Adam Smiths at Golden Boy Promotions. That’s why they wrote WBC’s Godfather Don Vito Corlionne., er.. Jose Sulaiman who eventually wrote to the Pacquiao Team to answer his letter within seven days upon receipt if Pacman -- as the Alphabet’s mandatory challenger -- will fight Barrera.

That should settle the issue of from where the challenge came from, what the WBC is doing and on whose bidding. It also helps point to the reason why only 7 days were given to the Pac camp.
If Manny fails to answer, that eliminates him from MAB's to do list. It takes a lot to resist the temptation to think that that, exactly, is what Barrera really wants. And, I'm half-certain that many would find it easy to guess what Barrera is praying for. Be rid of Manny without fighting him.Last edited by grayfist; 03-11-2006, 03:55 PM.

You have a valid point there, grayfist. Nice thinking. It may very well be what GBH has been cooking, and it sure doesn't smell good! It aint cool!
