This is how I KNOW you're young. Based on what was Canelo/Lara a draw? Lara was winning early with effective movement and quick hands. Canelo adjusted and Lara's effective movement, became "running" after a while. You cannot win a championship caliber fight that way. Canelo's body punching, effective aggressiveness, and bravery won him that fight down the stretch. Lara did all that arrogant talking during the build-up and forgot to FIGHT in the actual fight, Smh. Newbies I tell ya. I guess you thought Vargas beat Winky Wright too, ey?
Im 30 years old and judged that fight to the best of my ability! And so did alot of other die hard canelo fans i watched it with...i had it a draw but could see it 115-113 either way..and i aint no newbie most kids growing up watched wrestlemania, i watched boxing since i was 8 years old and seen fights from 91-80's because my dad recorded alot of fights...so ive been watching boxing and been a real observer of the sport for 18 years..

Great fight either way. I think it would be fought at the distance of Vargas-Quartey. I give Canelo the edge based on his professionalism. The pre-fight, the training, the night of the fight, etc. Canelo is about business. He so composed that people like me think he lacks passion - but in a fight like this I think it would serve him well.

Safe assumption that Vargas will show up on fight night so wound up, so eager to hit the clean cut Canelo that he would be in danger of going down a similar path to the Oscar fight. Still though, I see hellacious exchanges in my mind. damn I wish this could happen!

Pretty much the same for me. First fight I remember watching clearly was Tyson-Ruddock 91'. And I'm 29. So I was 6 when that popped off. I took it upon myself to follow the sport as closely as possible since the mid 90's as my family was merely casual fans. Although I admit, I lost interest completely from about 2003-07, I started following very closely again for the last 6-years.

Imagine the insults Vargas would be throwing in Canelo's direction. After all, he called Oscar a 'fake Mexican' in the build up to their fight. Imagine what he would call Canelo.

I don't know about "clear-cut", but Canelo edged it out. You cannot "run" in a fight of that magnitude. PERIOD. The judges will take it away from you. I scored it, 7-5 Canelo. So, 115-113. Lara should've let his hands go more. I KNOW why he didn't though. Throwing more punches would've left openings for Canelo to hurt him and I think he would've. Matter of fact, if Lara doesn't get on his bike, he gets KO'ed.

I agree... lara has no one to blame but himself...it was de la hoya/trinidad all over again that night and the right guy got the win...

Like I said before, I think Vargas is way above Canelo.
