LOL I heard some youtubers say floor seats will be $2000 and I think Floyd Berto's floor seats are only $1,500? That doesn't sound right at all. Usually Mandalay is cheaper than MGM. I remember sitting floor for like $500 even for some fights there.

Everythings a rumor i guess until a credible source officially announces it.

If Cotto shows up ready to box for a full 12 rounds like he did against Mayweather and Margarito the second time around he could beat Canelo. Im still not convinced Canelo can fight a full 3 minutes of any round without taking an extended break afterwards. It's a toss for me, I'll know on fight night depending on who shows up.

From my understanding neither guy has many clear-cut advantages with the exception of Cotto's movement and Canelo's youth. Cotto also has a more experienced corner, I'm sure Roach will predict a Ko while shouting he has the perfect game plan, but at the end of the day it'll only be these two in the ring.

Plenty of unanswered questions going into this fight. Is Cotto's resurgence simply a mirage? Can Canelo convincingly dominate another elite fighter? The fact this fight took so much time to finally come to fruition has made it far more intriguing. Canelo has gained some validity by consistently facing top fighters and Cotto has looked as good as ever under the eye of Roach. The value of this matchup has skyrocketed to the delight of BoxingScene's loyal Accountants who will have a field day discussing the lucrative purses and PPV opportunities.

You could really make a solid argument for either fighter in this matchup as they're pretty even in each department. The power department is about even and the key will be in who can take their opponents power. Cotto's left hook against Canelo's uppercuts.
          Great post! Green K!

          Thanks for keeping it real.

In reference to Kirkland, the inactivity is a result of his incompetence. He was offered the Canelo fight before and turned it down multiple times. He was even offered the opportunity for a tuneup fight prior to the Canelo fight and also turned that down.

                    Kirkland's manager Michael Miller...

"I wish it would have come without a big 17-month break," Miller said. "We were asked in November if we wanted a tune-up but we said if you're gonna give us Canelo, let's just go right to May and he can use that time to train."

The thing is you could easily nitpick both fighters past KO's and attribute it to motives such as inactivity, injury, or CW's being a factor. Those fights are in the rearview mirror though as Cotto is no Kirkland coming of months of inactivity, nor Canelo a weight drained Geale.

Former junior middleweight titlist Canelo Alvarez has signed on to face slugger James Kirkland, Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya.
