You think Chavez is going to fight a champion a division below him at a catchweight? Well... I guess he'll fight Jermain but GGG and Cotto are out of the equation he ran away from GGG and hid behind Haymon. There is also a big difference between Salka and Algieri you really shouldn't even compare them to justify anything. One is at least a champion in a division where Manny is probably better suited, Salka came up 3 division and was ranked 77th. Just accept the fact that Haymon lets you fight tomato cans for a nice paycheck. It's great for your pockets but there's no honor or respect gained.Comment

lol at these boxers.
you align yourself to a promotional outfit or network. not a manager. network/promoter will always have more leverage than a manager. they can put up fights. especially top rank who has the capability to go independent without sho or hbo.
but then again, fighting bums for millions (al haymon specialty) is hard to turn down.Comment

Outside of a formal license to promote fights in CA, NV, and TX, there isn't really anything that Top Rank brings to the table for Chavez Jr.
Arum has near exclusive access to HBO, but SHO is now in a position that it's about on par, in terms of audience. Arum can't do anything in Mexico, in terms of negotiating a TV rights deal, that Chavez Jr can't do on his own.
Arum doesn't have the type of relationships with any large-scale venues to outweigh the interest that a venue would offer to Chavez Jr (MSG vs Barclays Center; Cowboys Stadium vs, Alamodome; MGM Grand isn't all that friendly with Arum any longer; Staples Center is now an unaffiliated venue.Comment

Well, looks like this Haymon dude possesses the gift of gab. I mean he must be one smooth talkin' sum***** to so quickly attain this level of influence in the sport.
Maybe he can talk Jr into training like he should...Comment
