Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Expects a Big 2015 With Canelo Alvarez

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is expecting a very big 2015 for his company. De La Hoya has been signing up new fighters, gaining new champions to his company and he is now working with both HBO and Showtime.

De La Hoya's superstar fighter, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs), was set to return in December, but suffered an ankle injury and had to withdraw. Canelo is looking to return in May of 2015, hopefully against WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs). De La Hoya says there is no reason to rush the fighter's return.

Sounds like all of his eggs are in Canelo's basket. Oscar made a bad decision signing him to HBO without at least making it a package deal for some of his other fighters. Now he is at the whim of the company, and has nothing to bargain with

Since Canelo went back to HBO, I am pretty sure Canelo will fight Pacman if he beats Cotto. That fight would be huge, specially if that is going to happen in May. I doubt Pac will say no to Canelo, guy is too slow with no lateral movement. 3G is too dangerous for Canelo, too much experience with punching power and reach advantage.

Im pretty sure odh doesn't care what channel will show his fighters. If hbo is what canelo wants, no one can really stop him from doing so.

Of course, Canelo will take over the game in 2015, who's gonna beat him? Wooooo!

Waiting for the tired "Mayweather" response.

Canelo will go as far as Golovkin lets him. Once he faces Gennady, IT IS GAME OVER. I am telling you, his career will be DONE.

Canelo has PRIDE and he will exchange with Golovkin (and I respect that of him btw) which will leave Canelo permanently damaged for life. The damage he will take in that fight will be worse than what Margarito experienced against Pacquiao.
