Comments Thread For: Sergey Kovalev Expects To Learn Plenty From Hopkins

Sergey Kovalev admits he will learn plenty from Bernard Hopkins when they clash this weekend - before he goes on to beat the veteran.

The two clash in Atlantic City on Saturday night with Hopkins - just two months shy of his 50th birthday - defending his IBF and WBA world light-heavyweight titles against the current WBO champion in an eagerly-awaited unification match.

Russian-born Kovalev, 31, has stopped 23 of his 26 opponents so far in the paid ranks and believes he can be the man to finally end the extraordinary reign of Hopkins.

Hopkins is supposed to lose this. I know Kovalev is relatively early in his career, but if Hopkins bests him it will be extraordinary.

I kind of want BH to win, but then I don't want him to because something wont feel right about it as its not supposed to happen. But maybe the explanation is BH will live to 120 so hes not even middleage yet.

But once kovalev beats BH im sure he will learn a lot from winning as you also do in defeat.

get ready for fake injuries and phantom low blows from hopkins.

its gonna be worse than his calzaghe act.

If Hopkins feels he cant go full 12 with Kovalev he will find an easy way out.
I smell a dirty fight ruled by DQ or no contest.

According to Hopkins, he never lost. He thinks there is some kind of conspiracy against him when the decision doesn't go his way. So he really never learns a thing in his losses. Only that people in boxing want him to lose. That's been his explanation for coming up short in the ring.
