Comments Thread For: Provodnikov-Castillo: Egor Mekhontsev on The Card

Olympic gold medal winner Egor Mekhontsev (5-0, 5KOs) returns on Saturday night against Jinner Guerrero (7-2, 6KOs) at the Events Center in Pharr, Texas. If all goes well, the light heavyweight prospect is going to have a quick return, only a few weeks later, on November 28th as part of the undercard to Ruslan Provodnikov's stay busy fight against former champion Jose Luis Castillo. Both Mekhontsev and Provodnikov are managed by Vadim Kornilov.

Top Rank should be finding better opponents for Mekhontsev.

He had a long amateur career like Beterbiev, so he doesn't need to be in with soft opponents.

This is a disgusting fight. I want to hold out hope Castillo pulls a Morales/Maidana here, but I know it won't happen.

          Criminal matchmaking.
          Jose Luis is sadly shot.
By staging this is Russia they think we will never know it actually happened.
Ruslan has lost any respect remaining for him.

Has this fight been confirmed? What kind of people has Ruslan got behind him if they think this is a good idea.

Hopefully they step Egor up after this he gains nothing from blowing guys like this out. Hes almost 30 and needs to be moved at a quicker pace.

              IDC for the main event.
