Miguel Cotto will be fighting on the weekend of the Puerto Rico Day Parade. He is no longer under Bob Arum's control and will fight on the day he wants, which is that day.

Whether he fights Alvarez or someone else has yet to be determined. If Alvarez wants the fight, he will agree to fight Cotto that weekend. Otherwise, Cotto will fight Bradley, Andre Ward, Hopkins or someone else that day.

Cotto got 8-10 mil with a PPV percentage when he fought Floyd, and got a gaurantee of 7 mil for his last fight.

Canelo made 5 mil vs Floyd, 1.25 mil vs Angulo, and 3 mil vs Lara

Cotto turned down $10 mil to fight Canelo the first time so that is probably why the negotiations are taking so long.

Yeah but against Canelo Cotto could demand a bigger slice off that PPV pie while Canelo will make a ton off the PPV sites in Mexico. Floyd only gives a token percentage, Cotto/Canelo could be a 50/50 PPV split or 65/45 split in Cotto's favor. Fight wouldn't have to do a million buys for him to make a ton more.

Screw Mayweather PPV, forget about May date. I like Canelo because he takes risk.

Cotto will not fight Canelo in may. Cotto still want mayweather for the glory. Everyone knows mayweathers ego. If cotto takes may from mayweather mayweather will surely punish cotto by never fighting him again. Cotto will not risk that. If cotto is fighting may 2 it will be against mayweather. Otherwise expect cotto v Canelo in June. Simple as that.
