Comments Thread For: Kovalev: I Have More Than Two Bullets For Hopkins

WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs) says there is more to his game than the punching power he brings in both hands. He faces WBA/IBF champion Bernard Hopkins in a unification next Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Hopkins, 49-years-old, has promised to teach the much younger fighter a boxing lesson when they trade punches in their HBO televised main event. The future of Hall of Famer will look to use Kovalev's power and aggression against him in their match

Absolutely true. Like I said kovalev is not just a puncher. He picks his shots very well. The 1st knockdown in the silakh showed his great timing, What ordinary puncher feints a right hand and lands a crushing jab to the body? shows you his creativity, and that lead body shot knockdown? again picks his shots very well and sees openings. Now obviously those guys are not even close to BHOP's level but I'm just saying people seem to think kovalev is just another puncher that hopkins takes to school. Not the case. I still think kovalev will finish the legend.

These variety of KO's or knockdowns shows me kovalev is not just a Power puncher like a lemeiux or maidana who just throws and hopes something lands. Kovalev is a thinking puncher. Scary combination. Him and GGG both have that same attribute.

Kovalev's comments sound like he doubts his chances, I doubt them as well.

What did I tell anyone about kovalev. And some posters here were talking about how he would get beat like pavlik LOL.

Kovalev showed me again why I think of him so highly. Scary combination of power and boxing skills.
