Comments Thread For: Macklin Hopes Heiland Win Leads To Miguel Cotto Shot

Matthew Macklin believes he could challenge WBC Middleweight champion Miguel Cotto next if he can see off Jorge Sebastian Heiland at The 3Arena in Dublin on November 15, live on Sky Sports.

Macklin meets WBC International champion Heiland in an eliminator for Cotto’s crown as big time boxing returns to Ireland’s capital, with the winner gunning for Cotto who ripped the title from Sergio Martinez.

The Irishman is focused on the dangerous Argentine he faces in Dublin, but admits that the carrot of challenging Cotto has him dreaming of a return to the Big Apple or even an outdoor spectacular in Dublin.

lol, what kind of eliminator is this?

GGG the mandatory... for some reason who is also a freaking champion

Murray the Silver champion, who is #1 rated and also fighting... the mandatory champion...

And I guess Macklin... who is supposed to take Murray's spot after the loss.

    Good job WBC

I'm surprised how no one ever gets outraged as to why this guy always gets a title shot. Especially after that embarrassing performance against Golovkin. It's not the KO itself cuz it's boxing and GGG we are talking, but how scared he was to even get hit prior to that.

If Andy Lee wins, you betcha he's getting a title defense

According to Adam Booth, Lee is to defend against Billy Joe Saunders if he beats Korobov. That was the deal.

What's funnier is that in the article the guy talks as if it's possible such a fight would take place in Ireland.

Does Macklin even draw in Ireland? Lee-Macklin would sell well over there doe.

It's a winnable fight for Macklin but I think Cotto will have too much class and stop him mid-late rounds.

I don't think Lee gets past Korobov and BJS loses to either man.
