I watched this video a while back now. I think it goes a long way to explaining how BHop does that. It's Popkins meeting the UFC fighter Rashad Evans and giving him some tips on stand-up boxing.
Near the start of the conversation Evans asks BHop how to time a right hand. BHop tells him you don't try to time it, you just do it. If you think about it for even a second, that's an hour already. If you hit your opponent with anything at all when he isn't expecting to be hit, that will hurt him more than hitting him hard when he is expecting it.

I guess it's possible he might catch Kovalev out like that. But Krusher hits so damn hard that, with him, it doesn't matter whether you are expecting to be hit or not. When he hits you, he hurts you badly, whatever.

Segundo Mercado hurt Hopkins pretty badly. Nard has tightened up defense since that fight but it won't matter on 11/8. Kovalev will hunt him down and be the 1st to stop the Alien. Either that of Nard will look for some foul to get out of the fight.

I cannot see Hopkins getting stopped, he is just too wily. I think if he finds Kovalev too much and himself too old, he will find a way to get out of the heat with some hijinks to get the fight stopped

This is a dangerous fight for Bhop because I don't think he will be able to get inside Kovalev's head before the fight. Kovalev seems like the type to be crazy. During the fight he might be able to though. If anyone can expose the *****s in armor, it is Hopkins. He will make Kovalev look bad even if he loses.

When Maidana does it its considered "dirty unskilled brawling". When someone like Ward or Bhop does it, its "crafty" LOL.

It really amused me to hear Nazeem Richardson bleating about Tyson Fury pushing Steve Cunningham's head back with his forearm in a clinch before knocking Steve out:

"He shudda been disqualified! That's not allowed in the rules of boxing ... that's cheating!"

                      Yeah right.
