Because he was still a two division current champ who was coming off the best win of his career against a much hyped three division champ supposedly of a similar style to Floyd.

It was a unification title fight between two champs in the same division that was actually very strongly clamoured for by all after the Broner win.

It was actually the best fight to happen at the time and made a lot of sense.

It's like saying "why did Pac fight Bradley, and an old Marquez when he should have been fighting guys better than all his opponents". Uhhhh, because they were good fights at the time and made complete sense....well, maybe not the third Marquez fight at that time, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Bradley isn't one of Pacs very best opponents, but he was a good current champ with good current wins and the fight was solid.

Maidana was a current two division champ, at his peak, coming off is biggest win with a good style to give Floyd trouble. Just because he wasn't better than prime Castillo, Corrales, an undefeated Canelo or superstar Oscar doesn't mean it wasn't good at the time.

Standards expected are very high with Floyd.

paulie malignaggi is a two weight world champ aswell. doesnt mean much these days. and that says it all, broner a 3 weight world champ yet his resume is piss poor.

strongly clamoured for? no it wasnt. he offered us 2 turds to choose from, maidana and khan. the fans chose khan and he went and fought maidana anyway. pac man is far more qualified than those two wouldnt you say?

if you dont want to fight pacman, then at least move up and find bigger trees to chop rather than giving us over matched opponents. he could have fought martinez. id say that would have been far better than a guy who lost to amir khan and andreas kotelnik not so long ago.

A Shut Out against Collazo - Collapso came for the cheque only.

UD against Maidana - Good win, Maidana was much more raw then.

              All good wins.
              Couple of good wins, maybe...

              Great wins? Nope.

Even if you look at his best wins you will see that Maidana and even Paulie have gone on to bigger things while your hot boy Khan has struggled to get past Diaz FFS.

You want to know why there are no 'great wins'?

Because Khan has got no ****ing chin, whatsoever.
