I can't understand why this fight has been hyped so much. It's no different to Geale, Macklin and Rubio. Another second rate, domestic level guy that just happens to be in the top ten. These fights got boring long ago.
GGG will steamroll this guy just like the others too. As much as it sucks, middleweight is just a pile of ****e. To get the biggest, best fights, and make the most of his shortening career, he just should move up to 168 as unfortunate as it is.
What's after Murray, who, let's face it, is and has only ever been a contender? His two shots came against guys that, if he was good, he would have beaten, as evidenced by their both getting clearly beaten not long after he fought them. They were ripe for the taking by any world class fighter and all he could do was put up a good showing against a couple of past it faded champs. That's not the level of a guy that will create a great fight with GGG.
He'll get KOd in a few rounds and then what? N'Jikam? Quillin? Those guys suck ass. At least if he does move up, which sucks that he has to to get big fights, there is Froch, Kessler, Ward, Abraham, even Dirrell, Chavez Jr, etc.
I want to see GGG in some good fights that are actually more than test fights for young prospects rather than veteran, long time champs. He's been fighting young prospect fights since 2010 when he became a 'world champion' against ultra randomo Nilson 'Whothe****' Tapia. Geale was a step up, but he'd still just lost his title too.
This madness has got to stop. He's one of the longest reigning champs in and around his division with the most defenses, yet he's also the least tested of any long term champion, arguably in all of boxing. He's got the potential to make great fights with the other top guys, so someone needs to get off their ****ing ass and actually get him the big fights that we want to see. Otherwise, hand him off to someone who can actually do it, has the balls to do it, and also the financial backing to make other top guys fight him.
He's a well publicised, HBO backed, tv friendly champion. If his management can't get him a single big fight against another big name champion, it's because they don't have the ability to do so. It's not about opponents not wanting it. The management just don't seem to a) have the nous and capability, financial and otherwise, to do it or b) they don't want to put him in the biggest fights.
This is just another stepping stone fight...but he's had 11 stepping stone fights across four years as champion since 2010. Either his management don't want to, or they actually can't. I suspect the latter. Either way, it's boring knowing the outcome of each fight of his before it happens, how it's going to play out, even down to the round and style. There's no surprise and boxing is the sport of surprise.
