From reading about his childhood it seems like he's one of those guys who doesn't know what "out of shape" is.

When you stay in that kind of shape your whole life you have a different level of power than guys like Ricky Hatton who are fatasses and just get ripped a a month before a right (and from what I've seen... That's a lot of pro boxers).

He's way stronger than the average. His KO ratio is very, very high. He holds the highest KO ratio in MW history. His last opponent hadn't been KO'd in at least a decade. So yeah, he is MILES stronger. That kinda thing tends to lead to questions eventually.

He's strong because his mother was forced by terrible circumstances to leave the infant Gennady in the snowy woods to fend for himself.

A pack of wolves came to eat him but he fought so savagely that they accepted him and he was given to a momma wolf to be raised . Over the next few years the little champ thrived in the nurturing company of likeminded predators.

Eventually the tale of the Khazaki toddler being raised by wolves was told to Chuck Norris. Chuck scoffed at the thought of such a good boy being raised by feggit wolves and so collected the child to properly raise himself.

            That's the secret.

In such ways, champions are made.

He sets up each power shot by stuffing his opponent's gloves into their faces, and then draws them away with a hard body shot, which then opens them up for a double-tap upstairs. He throws double left hooks to confuse his opponent.

Look at Rubio and Stevens - double left hooks.

He also mixes above-average punching power with serious boxing skills. Such a thing is so rare nowadays, that it seems like he's greater than he actually is. He's the closest thing we have to a Marvin Hagler, etc. being prime / active today. Old school boxing theory with smart aggression and honest-to-goodness punching power.

You forgot Golovkin's "switch" -- there was a thread about it...

So is David Lemieux's, an 88% KO rate. I think Golovkin just has better technique so his shots are landing just where they're supposed to.

I guess Golovkin is what happens when a huge puncher is not just relying on his power. Imagine Julian Jackson or any guy with massive power (Naseem Hamed?) with Golovkin's boxing ability.

I'm not saying his power isn't legit, and that he can't KO guys that have never suffered a KO, he KO'ed Geale, Ishida, Adama, Proksa, his power is real. He can KO durable C level guys who have never been stopped. But once he steps up to durable A and B level guys, that's when we'll see how good his power really is. Probably still powerful and dangerous but we'd see more 12 rounders.
Only if he steps up in weight, but as the A-side against everyone except Froch and Jr., he has no financial incentive to do so.

Bingo A+. Many of his sparing partners say this guy hits harder than many heavyweights(And he does spar with bigger guys and they have to wear flak jackets to protect their ribs), he just has good balance and above average power.
