I guess Golovkin is what happens when a huge puncher is not just relying on his power. Imagine Julian Jackson or any guy with massive power (Naseem Hamed?) with Golovkin's boxing ability.

Only if he steps up in weight, but as the A-side against everyone except Froch and Jr., he has no financial incentive to do so.
Yes, and Rubio TKO'd Lemieux. Meanwhile, Golovkin KO's Rubio quickly within a few rounds. I know, I know... triangle theories. In my two cents opinion, his KO ratio has much more to do with his power than technique.

Golovkin has been STOPPING guys consistently for the last 6+ years. Some guys hadn't been stopped before, or hadn't been stopped in more than a decade. Performances like that and very high KO ratios will always come under scrutiny eventually no matter the fighter because it's quite unusual. But Kev could be onto something too with his post about Golovkin not facing A-level competition, and how that would change things. But I'm not so sure about that after the way he dismantled Rubio so easily.

Okay, well if you give them both Paulie Malignaggi power, who wins, Lemieux or Golovkin?

One guy is heavily skilled as well as having huge power, the other guy just has the power, that's the difference.

With over 300 amateurs wins and an Olympic silver, you have to agree his skills are a big part of the package.

Of course he has skills. The thread starter wasn't questioning Golovkin's skills though. The thread starter is questioning the power. And it's the power, and power alone, that's legitimately questionable because it's pretty unusual.

Just like Wilder they have pure power, but haven't faced A grade fighters.

The real question is; with all that power, how does he touch his **** without ripping it right off #GGGproblems

he's built like a dump truck. very thick / strong torso and core for a middleweight.

great technique, too. very strong puncher because fo the way he gets leverage and sets up with distance and timing.
