  • Comments Thread For: Gallagher: Alexander Will Bring Out Amir Khan's Best!

Veteran trainer Joe Gallagher says Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) is a taking a very big risk by accepting a fight with fellow former champion Devon Alexander on December 13th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The winner will become a frontrunner candidate to face WBC/WBA welterweight king Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May of 2015.

Khan made his welterweight debut in May of this year, dropping former champion Luis Collazo three times to win a twelve round unanimous decision. The fight took place on the undercard of Mayweather's first bout with Marcos Maidana.

Alexander is coming off a win over Soto-BumAss who lots of people were praising Maidana for beating as justification for him getting the Floyd fight

            Hopefully Khan retires Devon.

I was at the fight with him and Porter, I was jumping out of my seat watching him get his ass kicked

Khan has GOT to do a job on Alexander .Devon is not one of the divisions hitters so may not be able to test the whiskers although I said the same about Willie Limond and the light hitter did...so...we'll see. He MUST look convincing or forget the Floyd dream forever.

I agree bro, Khan needs to look impressive.

I wanna see Khan vs Floyd happen cause I think Khan can bring out the Best out of Floyd and Khan deffo has the attributes to give him most troubles.

I think the display Khan puts on against Alexander will be a reasonable gauge as to how he would fear against Floyd and given that Floyd does everything better than Alexander there can be NO floors.

Devon is not a joke, maybe he is not at his best like the time when Brook ran away from him two times bv he is ever a risk a boxer with his skills and experience (Lucas Matthysse,Marcos Maidana,Timothy Bradley,ecc...his resume is amazing like few) and also southpaw that can be ever a problem in a fight. Devon is not a hitter at all at 147 so if Khan with that weak jaw after take prime shots fells that can absob well his punches he will jump on Devon. Devon has a great timing in counter with uppercuts when he is attacked though and Amir often get hit with uppercuts,so to me the fight can be a really good one to watch.
