This is like saying the Bronco's would beat the Raiders... it's not really a good pick, everyone thinks that. Cotto beats Canelo, not by a brutal beat down but by another embarrassing loss and he'll be outboxed badly. His only KO at 154 was Angulo and that was a beating but he never hurt Angulo like Kirkland did, nowhere close. His last KO aside from that was Lopez who had 1 fight at WW before he moved up to 154 to face Canelo. That tells me his power is to be respected, but it's not to be feared like GGG power.
I can't give the stamina edge to Canelo, it's even as well as power, hand speed, and just strength in general. By that I mean no one will be able to really push the other one around on the inside. So where does that leave us if physically, aside from chin, they are equal? (Advantage Canelo.) That leaves ring IQ, ring generalship, footwork and experience... Cotto is really levels above Canelo in all those areas. Cotto gets hit a few times and maybe hurt once or twice but wins a pretty wide decision, Canelo is just too limited a fighter and needs a more advanced trainer/corner at this stage in his career. If he wants to go to the next level so do the people who train him.
