Yoyogi #2 Gymnasium, Tokyo, Japan - WBC bantamweight champ Shinsuke Yamanaka (22-0-2, 16 KOs) dropped mandatory challenger Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (37-6-1, 16 KOs)three times to retain his world title with a twelve round unanimous decision. The scores were 114-110, 116-108 and 115-109. Yamanaka retained his world crown for the seventh time. The challenger went down in the seventh, eighth and ninth.
In the co-feature, a battle of former world champions saw Takahiro Aoh (27-2-1, 12 KOs) win a ten round unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Salgado (26-4-1, 16 KOs). The scores were 97-94, 97-93 and 98-92.
