Comments Thread For: Nonito Donaire Eyes Comeback Fight in The Philippines

Five division world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire wants his comeback fight from his crushing 6th round knockout at the hands of Jamaica’s Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters to be held in the Philippines.

BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard/Viva Sports learned that tentative discussions had already been held and that the alternate choice would be Dubai where ABS-CBN staged a tremendously successful Pinoy Pride fight card before a turn-away crowd of Filipino overseas workers at the World Trade Center.

I'm just not sure how much Donaire has left. The losses to Rigo and Walters have damaged him quite a bit psychologically and physically.

He has head issues that for some reason he cant get over. You can see it in the ring. His body shows it. Its like he gives in...not up!

He needs a jab, and stop using that left hook over and over.

After Donaire is done taking easy fights the Philippines, he should do some travelling and fight Frampton, Quigg or Santa Cruz (although he'll be at 126 very soon). Still some decent fights at 122. Maybe Martinez or Hasegawa.

he should retire if he's not gonna bother using his long range punches

his hooks used to atleast be longer when he was younger and used to throw his right just a tad more, now everything has to be that textbook, picture perfect hook that he can't hit anyone with unless they are inside, stop looking for the knockout man

most of those guys are donaire's size or taller

the only short guys are rigondeaux, martinez and frampton, which strangely enough are basically the best fighters of the division

it's donaire's division, except it's ruled by little people
