2013 was great.....2014 not so much.

The rumored December card is supposed to be their best this year and it doesn't even sound that good anymore

Not only have we been fed tune up fights all year long by every name fighter, but there are no significant fights signed for the rest of the calendar year. The Hernandez-Kameda fight which is the only fight Sho has lined up would just be an off-air undercard bout on an HBO card. You would think Sho would have plenty of money left for cards considering they really haven't had any marquee match ups with their star fighters all year. Porter-Brook was their best match up and the only fight that wasn't considered a tune up all year. Floyd fought 2 fights with Maidana, neither of which were wanted by several fans that wanted to see him face Porter or Thurman. Canelo stepped up against Lara but that was on PPV, along with his rebound fight with Angulo. Canelo & Porter fought the toughest opposition out of all of Sho's name fighters & now Canelo has gone to HBO. The gap between HBO & Showtime has never seemed bigger. HBO is closing the year strongly with Hopkins-Kovalev, Crawford-Beltran & Bradley-Chavez while Showtime is looking to be out of money on the heels of their worst year of content. How did this happen?
      Al Haymon happened.

I used to like Sho, back when they used to have competitive fights between up and comers ,contenders and champions alike.Sure, they didn't have the biggest names but they put on great fights for real boxing fans. Now all we get are garbage mismatches between the big names and the rod salka's of the world ,from undercard to main event. Why does Danny Garcia need two tune ups for a potential fight with Lamont Peterson? that's the same guy who got ktfo by Mathysse!

I think Richard Schaefer had something to do with this. I think him leaving GBP and letting Oscar negotiate with Al Haymon is when it all went down hill from there, with awful tune ups. I know what Schaefer was doing was wrong but it's not like Oscar is signing any Al Haymon fighters these days, he's doing the same thing Schaefer was doing but at least Schaefer gets Haymon to put his fighters in the ring against each other. Oscar gets his company tune ups and that's why Showtime sucks now. Showtime, Al Haymon, & Schaefer had the network on fire, but Hoya had other plans.

Showtime got pimped hard by haymon..

Showtime tried to overtake hbo by signing Floyd away and build up new stars around him..
Canelo, broner, Danny, etc were all getting exposure by always being in the discussion of possible Floyd opponents,,

But now it looks like Floyd will get his money, and haymon is moving guys to nbc sports, leaving showtime with very little..

Showtime probably didn't mind the soft matchmaking if it paid off in 2015-16 with Garcia, broner, etc all landing big fights, but with them leaving, showtime has just wasted a year of resources promoting these guys only for them to leave before they can capitalize

Richard Schaefer happened too showtime. it's no coincidence that as soon as the rumors about him leaving gbp started, the bad matchups started. Schaefer was making the fights that needed too be made at gbp and showtime. haymon was loyal too Schaefer, not Oscar and showtime. that is why he wont match his fighters up anymore under gbp banner. it's not that Oscar doesn't wanna make the fights. it's that al haymon wont let him because his loyalty lies with Schaefer.

              Garcia/matthysse
              Peterson/matthysse
              broner/malignaggi
              porter/alexander
              maidana/broner

these are all haymon fighters vs haymon fighters while Schaefer was running gbp.

Just because Peterson was stopped by Matthysse doesn't mean Peterson can't beat Garcia. Styles make fights. Herrera was beat my Mayfield, Dulorme beat Mayfield. I guess Dulorme beats Garcia by your logic.
