Showtime has by far had their worst year in boxing for as far back as I can remember. They've always been the B side to HBO (with the exception of 2013), but this year the gap has grown even more. Not only have we been fed tune up fights all year long by every name fighter, but there are no significant fights signed for the rest of the calendar year. The Hernandez-Kameda fight which is the only fight Sho has lined up would just be an off-air undercard bout on an HBO card. You would think Sho would have plenty of money left for cards considering they really haven't had any marquee match ups with their star fighters all year. Porter-Brook was their best match up and the only fight that wasn't considered a tune up all year. Floyd fought 2 fights with Maidana, neither of which were wanted by several fans that wanted to see him face Porter or Thurman. Canelo stepped up against Lara but that was on PPV, along with his rebound fight with Angulo. Canelo & Porter fought the toughest opposition out of all of Sho's name fighters & now Canelo has gone to HBO. The gap between HBO & Showtime has never seemed bigger. HBO is closing the year strongly with Hopkins-Kovalev, Crawford-Beltran & Bradley-Chavez while Showtime is looking to be out of money on the heels of their worst year of content. How did this happen?
How did Sho blow the budget on tune ups?

Cause they are only working with one pool of talent and the captain of that ship refuses to put his fighters against each other and already has NBC lined up so its no biggie to sit out the year for them but its a biggie for Showtime so what do showtime do, they have to pay top dollars for whatever they can get otherwise they wont get shit. -
Last night was further indication of the gap. Donaire Walters was a huge fight and it was second fiddle.Showtime has by far had their worst year in boxing for as far back as I can remember. Just piss poor management from Showtime execs themselves to the advisors/promoters they work with. Dark days are still ahead for them.Comment

Seems as if Espinoza put his faith in Haymon to deliver good fights but instead got tune ups that costed SHO an arm n a leg and Oscar got hip to what they were up to and wanted no part of it . Meanwhile Mayweathers still got two fights on his pricey contract with the fans DEMANDING a worthy ( PAC , COTTO , etc. ) oopponent .Comment

Showtimes year was absolutely terrible and Espinoza should be held accountable. I mean was there honestly 1 card that you looked forward to this year on showtime. Besides loma vs Russell. What they provide for the boxing subscribers was a fn embarrassment.Comment
