Here we got a guy from Kazakhstan fighting in Southern Cali with no ties to the region, fighting a Mexican and the sold out crowd is chanting "Triple G. Triple G!"

Golovkin is clearly The People's Champ. Most popular fighters have some kind ethnic or national support from loyal fans, GGG however has become a big attraction, must watch TV, solely on his fighting style and personality. Say what you will but that is damn impressive in this day and age of boxing.

Everyone loves Golovkin besides a few exceptions of jealous/scared fans of other fighters that are worried he's going to whoop their favorite fighter. He's just so likeable and of course everyone loves knockouts.

Even if you're a jealous hater, you gotta admit his star power all things considered is impressive.

IMo it's the power of language, even with the broken English, he can make the instant connection to US fans..very organic. He has capitalized more than Canelo on this front. Reminds me of the Pac's start

It's not a surprise though, he has it all. Exciting style, hugely likeable personality, gaurenteed entertainment, brilliant broken English.....the only people who will really dislike him are the fanboys of rival fighters.

It's a nice breath of fresh air to see someone with so much power, but very good technique, balance and timing too.
