If you're not hurt and don't want to be counted out, don't lay flat out on your back for 7 seconds before slowly starting to get up.
He felt the power in the uppercut and decided he didn't want it. Fairly straight forward IMO.

Or "attempt" to get up when the ref is is counting 9.

Rubio was getting stung and buzzed from Golovkin's arm punches. Rubio's defense was effective against Lemieux, but GGG was threading the needle easily and Rubio was gettign stung and I think decided he wanted his health.
