What's The Likelihood Of Jermain Taylor Fighting Mayweather?

Taylor fits the sort of criteria Mayweather tends to looks for in selecting his next opponent: a sizeable underdog coming off of a high profile win. Someone like Taylor would have been laughed at as a potential opponent beforehand, but so would have Ortiz and Guerrero pre-Berto, and Maidana before he walloped Broner about for twelve rounds.

Taylor, I believe, has a four month window for a voluntary defence, but given the amount of time Kell Brook had to wait, I can't imagine the IBF would object too much to a request for an extension - particularly with all the money to be made from a Mayweather fight.

I can see Floyd doing this as well, with Taylor doing whatever he can to get this fight as well. Nice payday for him sinc Al won't give him peanuts like maidana got in the last two fights.

The media would slam this fight like they did with the soliman fight. Only possible obstacle would be the legal issues for Taylor and showtime not Co signing this fight to carry on PPV

Floyd already cherrypicked Maidana and ducked Khan but I don't see FLoyd going up to 160 - unless he has a catchweight of 156 or something like that, effectively drainng Taylor so much that he'd be a corpse come fight night. I suppose Floyd would do anything to avoid facing Khan!

Yeah but this is the work smarter not harder route plus the chance to get that belt at 160. Martinez with his issues against Murray looked light years ahead compared to what Taylor looked a few weeks ago.

Sad to think that this could actually happen

                  I'd say 20% chance

It won't sell and Floyd hasn't fought a black fighter in over 4 years cuz he usually struggles against them.

The only thing going for it is the belt

                    No way. Just no way.

First off, Taylor vs Soliman was a shot fighter vs an ailing 40 year old. It wasn't high profile, it was a farce.

Second off, what makes you think Floyd will ever move up to MW? Or that Taylor can make jr. MW?

Third off, Floyd is a cherry picker, but he's smart about it. He would never embarrass himself by even mentioning Taylor's name.
