Comments Thread For: Golovkin vs. Rubio Weights From Carson, Calif.

Gennady Golovkin and Marco Antonio Rubio square off in a 12-round middleweight clash at the sold-out StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Fans turned out in droves for the West Coast debut of Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs), who ascension to stardom has been as explosive as his in-ring results. The Kazakhstani has scored 17 straight knockouts heading into Saturday, including a 100% knockout to win ratio over the course of a middleweight title reign more than four years deep.
Rubio (59-6-1, 51KOs) makes his third attempt at a middleweight bout. His past two tries ended in losses, coming up well short versus then-lineal middleweight king Kelly Pavlik in 2009, and most recently in a 12-round points loss to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Feb. '12.
The hard-hitting brawler from Mexico enters Saturday's contest having won his past six starts. His most recent win came in April, scoring a highlight reel 10th round knockout of Domenico Spada.

Either that, or he just couldnt get down, and that might be a bad sign for him come tomorrow.

Either might be true. Just thought it was slightly strange given how Rubio's not had that much trouble with 160 at all before. Either way, it didn't look like much of a size advantage on the screen, Golovkin looks in excellent shape.

In other news, Walters is GIGANTIC at 126. His rehydration weight should be interesting.

Don't think so, he didn't even looked that good. Seemed a little soft, not even cut up.

Missed that weigh in, hope they put some pics up soon. Was the size difference really that huge, from the pics I've seen he doesn't seem that big compared to Donaire.

Damn, Rubio's fatass couldn't make the weight? What's Robert feeding this guy? No more tortas for him, he should consider moving up to 168 after this.

I'd say at least a weight class, probably more. Doug Fischer reckons Walters is the biggest featherweight he's ever seen.

Hate to say it, but Garcia should have sat Ariza in a room and lay down the rules - his team needs him, I think Garcia was getting upset with the attention Ariza was getting and was getting jealous thinking people where equating the success to Ariza. Why would he let go a guy that comes in and has Chino beat the hell out of Broner amd then has Chino throwing over 1000 punches agains mayweather to now his fighters are losing and not making weight?? EGO AND PRIDE GO HAND IN HAND!

Hard to tell in their regular clothes. Hopefully that extra size slows him down, I want to win the prediction thread.
