Comments Thread For: Hearn Could See Froch-Chavez, DeGale-Ramirez Double

EDDIE HEARN last night reopened talks for Carl Froch's dream Las Vegas swansong.

The promoter held a conference call with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr's camp in a bid to get a fight on early next year.

Froch, 37, wants to bring down the curtain on his stunning career by fighting in fight capital Las Vegas where he never appeared.

Brit rival James DeGale is mandatory challenger for his IBF super-middleweight crown, but the Nottingham fighter looks set to relinquish that title to chase his dream fight.

Chavez is not beating Froch. I haven't seen enough of Ramirez but he looks pretty good so far so I'm inclined to say that Degale's only a slight favorite.

It would actually make a really good amount of sense; basically comes down to Top Rank being willing to do what's necessary to make the fight.

Top Rank doesn't want to pay Chavez Jr $7m for the fight, and Chavez Jr worn't take the fight for $3m; meet in the middle at $5m, with Top Rank getting the first opportunity to talk about an extension and the option to match whatever deal Team Chavez is able to suss out on the market.

Froch-Chavez Jr matches Britain's biggest star against one of Mexico's biggest stars, in a meaningful fight; should easily generate $25m on US PPV, plus another $5m-$10m for the TV rights in Mexico and the UK alone.

Matchroom gets DeGale-Ramirez for the vacant IBF 168 title (DeGale and Ramirez are both rated top five by the IBF), and everyone comes out okay.

Still doubt that it ever actually happens, though.

Jr. not only wants a good purse but more importantly he doesn't want any extension or condition from Arum. He wants to be a free agent and Bob is trying to force him to stay or if Julio leaves he would pay minimum possible delaying the departure (last I heard is that Bob claims he has rights until 2016).

Gilberto Ramirez looks to be the real deal, I like him to throw a spanner in the works by beating the p1ss out of DeGale.
