Comments Thread For: Chad Dawson Can Bounce Back, Says Former Trainer

Former light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (32-4, 18KOs), 32-years-old, is still capable of bouncing back, according to his former trainer John Scully.

Dawson has lost three of his last four fight, including two devastating knockout losses and earlier this month he dropped a ten round split decision to huge underdog Tommy Karpency.

Scully describes how most people believe Bernard Hopkins was finished when Joe Calzaghe defeated him in 2008, and now Calzaghe is retired and Hopkins is the WBA/IBF champion at light heavyweight.

Nice try Scully. But the difference between Hopkins lost and Dawson's lost, is that Hopkins lost but arguably won against a hall of famer in calzaghe. While Dawson lost to some civilian with a full time job that we don't even know.

Dawson does have a chance to win a significant fight, but please don't compare him to Hopkins, that blasphemous.

I don't think Chad has that viciousness or the will to win anymore. His just not interested in the sport.

I guess there's a longshot outside chance, but I don't see it. He looks near the end of his rope. The Ward demolition was probably the beginning of the end for Chad.

He needs to get with an offensive trainer, someone like roach or garcia.

Wtf is Scully smoking?? First off nobody questioned Nard as being done after that fight...& Second Nothing about chad's career parallels w/ b-hop. He'd be better off making a head2 head comp w/ Jermaine Taylor's BumbAZZ. foh john

Dawson needs to hang them up, he's packing glass in a division full of hard punchers. It won't end well.

Hard to imagine any scenario where Dawson could bounce back at this point. It would be cool if he did but I just don't see it.
