Now if he beat Golovkin, then we would pay him a minimum for his next fight of $10 million," said Arum, whose Top Rank contract runs through October 2015 with Chavez.

"So we would…do these two fights, and the minimum he would make is $12 million, and if he was successful, $17 million plus. He turned that offer down. So we offered him a one-fight offer at considerably less money*but still better than what Golovkin accepted for the fight*and he turned that down. So*obviously, he doesn't want the fight*and we go on with our business."
Chavez Jr. could make $7 million against Golovkin followed by $10-$15 million against Carl Froch in England without Bob Arum. He could also take a Mayweather fight at 158 and make $10 to $15 million. Offering someone $12 million when they could make $30 million without you is not a generous offer.

hold out chavez jr. don't be a dumbass like pacquiao and bradley. fight your last fight without an extension. then own your brand like mayweather and cotto. a per fight basis contract. its the only way to go these days because of the crooked promoters.

Everybody is a suspected user in boxing. As far as catchweights, Pac forced 2 on opponents, same as JMM and Cotto for example. Except Pac did it when climbing to his 7th and 8th division. Nobody has gone through more weight classes without a catchweight. Floyd for example cant compete in his 5th without one

Chavez Jr only hurting his own career by turning down these fights. Arum wont let him out of his contract until he fulfills his end of the agreement.
Chavez Jr, isn't Maidana though. Chavez Jr. is much more popular and has headlined a lot more events than Maidana.

Plus didn't Maidana sign the contract for 1.5 but with a % of the PPV?

What does he think he's really worth? In reality the $2mil no extension deal is just about the max what he's worth just because of the last name recognition. Arum offering him $7mil was a bonus and a generous one at that.
You have to ask yourself, what the other side is offering him though.

We know what Arum was offering for fights with GGG and Froch. It amazes everyone he turned them down, but if the rumors about him talking to Haymon are true, then one must ask, what is Haymon offering him?

Which is why he should have taken the long-term deal and made 20+ million. Not bad for a guy with a total of 400k PPV buys to his name.

Arum is smart, notice he didnt state the money amount of the one time offer.
