    He still beat the count.
You serious right now? A ref doesn't necessarily have to let a fight go on just cause the fighter beat the count. Even if Donaire got up, he was not able to continue. The ref is there for the fighters' safety.

This is a bloodsport, and lives, careers and legacies are on the line. If a fighter gets up and beats the 10 count, that means he wants to fight. If he wants to fight, I believe you should give him his chance. Donaire was the champion, he should have had the right to go out on his shield.

Sometimes stopping a fight too early will hurt a fighter more than stopping it too late. Because of this loss we'll probably never see Donaire on HBO again. His career might be over because it got stopped.

I'm not talking about the rules or the referee's powers. I already know what they are, i've been posting here for 5 years. I'm saying I believe he should have been given a chance.

The referee was also within his rights of stopping this fight.

      • Just finished watching the fight(I had to go out tonight and could not watch it live)wow what a fight..It was fun and much credit to Walters,he fought a great fight and showed class in victory..Donaire,sigh..I felt so bad for him,I wish he did not talk like he did at fights end..It was not like he did not give it his all,I was actually proud to be a fan of his for the heart he displayed..I felt like Donaire knew he was at a physical disadvantage and yet fought Walters hard none the less..Great job by both fighters, and sadly to say but Donaire maybe done..If he's not I'm still a fan,if he is..He's been great and is a great..

        • Didn't end well for Nonito...give the champ all the credit. With his Stiff jabs and clean countering, he's the real deal if you can waste someone whose never been knocked down or out.

          • Good fight. I think Walters will have learned a lot from it and will get even better from here on. He fight seemed to turn for him when he took the aggression down a notch in the 3rd and forced Donaire to initiate. The knockdown swung all the momentum back his way and it was just getting worse for Donaire from there on.

Walters is going to be a major threat to anyone at 126. Let's see who steps up to fight him.

                • It's like a fish-you put bait on the hook and you catch him.

Nonito is great, for my next fight I will welcome him as a sparring partner. (paraphrasing)

Really nice way of telling someone this win wasn't that hard and your career is done.

Good fight. Ref could've let it continue but why have a man who is getting beaten up and dominated take more punishment than necessary.
