Comments Thread For: Briggs Getting Death Threats: I Finally Broke Klitschko!

By Mitch Abramson - Shannon Briggs is on the phone, hollering about his mom dying of a drug overdose.

He's talking about his step-dad taking his final breath in prison.

He’s yelling about once being homeless in Brownsville, claims he never got paid for his 2010 fight against Vitali Klitschko that left him badly beaten and in the hospital for days.

He talks about the epiphany he had soon after the fight that caused him to reassess his life, cut off his trade-mark dreadlocks and quit drinking.

He talks about having thoughts of suicide.

We all know why Briggs is spilling his guts on the phone, why he’s dutifully answering questions on every topic under the sun.

He wants a heavyweight title fight with Wladimir Klitschko, the same guy he’s been pestering for the past several months, showing up in South Florida gyms and restaurants and even at sea, often shirtless and in a bad mood.

“Everywhere you go I go!” Briggs yells at Klitschko during these visits. “I’m the champ you’re the chump. What you do…I do!”

It’s his latest attempt to secure a big fight and payday with a Klitschko brother.

Briggs has somehow breathed new life and interest into his career with these creative stunts. [Click Here To Read More]

Haha **** it; I want to see this fight now. Just to see Briggs humiliated in front of everybody in NYC. Haha. Let the man get a payday - why not? He's been around boxing for a long time.

I'd prefer for him to fight somebody like Leapai first, but there's too great a chance he'll lose. Haha so he wants to go right from the tomato cans, skip the journeyman, and replace that part with these antics instead. And most often, stunts like this, and pre-fight hype and ****-talkage, and better at securing, and selling fights than a real convincing win over a decent journeyman, or fringe top 10 contender.

I think we'll see Shannon in the police blotter sooner than in the ring.

I honestly think he should get the fight. **** it, why not. Can't be worse than most of the other fights out there.

That read was a load of utter BS, I literally had to skip through parts.

Briggs will never get that fight, just forget about it already. Haye did it, Briggs is too late and Vitali retired him from any further top fights. Basta.

Society needs to protect Briggs from himself since he can't do it. Did you guys really forget about the Vitali fight? The beating he took? It's the reason he's acting like this in the first place.

i think this dude is just trying to get his $1-2 million he would get if he fought wladimir. why are people wanting this fight to happen. we complain and whine that he fights nobodies like leapai and are ok with him fighting a completely irrelevant opponent in the HW division like briggs? just because it would make for a cool pre fight hype so we can read articles like this?

Why the hell should Vladimir travel to fight this bum?

He will have his remaining defenses in Germany and retire in a couple of years. Vladimir is a family man now, he has maybe 3 or 4 fights left and they will be versus much better and much more deserving opponents than this crazed old man.
