Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Demolishes Denis Bakhtov in Two

O2 Arena (Millenium Dome), Greenwich, London - Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (9-0, 9KOs) demolished Denis Bakhtov (38-10, 25KOs) in two rounds to capture the vacant WBC International heavyweight title.

Joshua was letting hands go early, taking the fight to Bakhtov in the first minute and cut the Russian boxer's left eye. He continued to give Bakhtov a beating in the second until the referee jumped in to wave things off. It was the first time Bakhtov had been stepped inside of four rounds.

Next up is a battle with British veteran Michael Sprott (42-22, 17KOs) on November 22nd at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.

Looks like he can take a punch too (Still not tested I know) . . . Still along way to go but he's been impressive so far.

      David Price 1.2

He looks awkward after throwing a right hand sometimes, as if he's scared of receiving a counter.

The Sprott fight is a waste of time judging by what we've seen tonight.

I want to see Joshua fighting people his own size. He was able to bully Bakhtov too easily and he'll do the same to Sprott. Let's see him in with someone 6'5"+

I was thinking the same thing. bakhtov is a tough guy but he is pretty small compared to AJ. the sprott fight does seem like a waste of time. Britain has a solid foundation of HWs. Haye, chisora, price, Tyson fury & at a lower level Hughie fury, sprott, McDermott, dallas & several others. After 9 fights this guy looks so much more polished then Wilder looks after 30+ fights. Like you said I think he needs to fight someone bigger. At European level there is erkan teper & david price. both can punch & both are big. I don't see a reason why guys like this shouldn't fight each other. Price already lost twice to TT who is a top 10 guy. teper destroyed rogan & sprott. i'd like to see him fight price or teper but it will probably be someone like pala who floored price before being finished off. lucas browne could also be a possibility but hatton will keep him away as browne is moving up the latter.

I think Ustinov would be a good choice for a bigger opponent. Hasn't ever really been knocked out clean, just kind of quit after a Pulev jab IMO.

Would be good to see Joshua test someone like that or dimitrenko.

never thought of either of those guys. good call on that but I don't think sasha will get in there with him. I'm not sure if he's even fighting anymore. Ustinov would be interesting. he has experience & he is a monster. the Ustinov fight would be very interesting but i'm not sure he is in their price range. they'd have to pay him i suspect. AJ looks to be a good draw so you never know. he might be too much a threat after 9 fights. i'd like to see it. AJ & joseph parker look to be the future of this division. after 30+ fights i'm still not sold on wilder even after he clubbed liakhovich & a few other journeymen. I was never high on david price.
