Comments Thread For: Oscar: Fans Talking Cotto-Canelo More Than Floyd-Manny

NEW YORK – Oscar De La Hoya thinks Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez has supplanted Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao as the fight boxing fans want to see more than any other.

“What I feel, and I think what’s happening now is people are starting to talk not about Pacquiao-Mayweather,” De La Hoya said recently during a question-and-answer session with Alvarez at HBO’s Manhattan headquarters. “They’re now starting to talk about Cotto-Canelo. It’s not the second-best fight to be made. Now it’s becoming the best fight to be made. So something’s happening.”

Only a Floyd v Pacman fight can compete with this one. DLH is right, it seems that this has a better chance of happening. I'll gladly shell out the cash to watch this at a Cinco de Mayo house party...

I think it's pretty close as far what the fans are talking about more. Floyd-Manny is obviously the bigger fight, but the entire public is fatigued on that match up. That fight should've happened 2009/2010.

I'm all in with Oscar on this one. Canelo/Cotto is the fight I want to see, Pac/May is so overdue it deserves to be on the undercard lol that would be the day!

the only way floyd sells his next ppv is to fight maidana again, but this time:
                  1. maidana gets to wear his gloves
                  2. small ring size
                  3. maidana chooses referee
                  4. fight in argentina

Floyd just told a reporter all the rumors of him fighting Manny are completely false (big surprise) and that he can fight a couple "duds" if he wants and still sell PPVs.

Why would we be more excited about a fight that clearly isn't happening over Canelo-Cotto?
