Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Sees Canelo as Slight Favorite To Beat Cotto

Former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. views his Mexican rival, Saul "Caelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs) as a slight favorite to defeat WBC 160-pound champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) of Puerto Rico.

Their mutual promoters want to stage the fight in May of next year. Both of them were scheduled to fight on separate dates in December, but now both of them are looking to return in 2015. Canelo wants to go straight into a fight Cotto and the Puerto Rican veteran is possibly go to have an interim fight.

I'm a fan of both. Cottos one of my favorite fighters, I don't see any way he can beat Canelo. Once those combos start landing, Cotto won't be able to hang and **** all night. His only chance is to fight a perfect fight.

That's my honest assessment of this fight.

It will be a great fight, ending with Cotto KO/TKO'ing Canelo <10 rds.

It's so lame when people try to talk boxing as fan boys and with emotions. I don't think that's the case here. He said a "slight" favorite. He's probably going by the Trout (triangle theory). Although I thought Cotto, was robbed in that fight. I wouldn't go by the Trout fights... I'd go by Cotto's last two performances, and say that Cotto will dominate Canelo. Floyd and Angulo towards the end of the fight proved that Canelo doesn't fight well when you back him up and you get off first... Cotto will land first all night on Canelo... it'll be interesting to see if Canelo can handle Cotto's power...

If you honestly thought Cotto was robbed in the Trout fight then you are a freaking idiot and don't know s*** about boxing.

I would favor Canelo as well.
