The last days of his life were really crazy. I still remember the BoxingScene headlines.
He broker his wife's ribs a couple weeks before the last days, she said she tripped down the stairs.
"Valero stabs wife to death"
"Valero arrested at hotel, says he killed wife"
"Valero jailed"
"Valero commits suicide in cell"
He hung himself with his jeans, with a photo of his kids lodged in his mouth.
This sport leaves many victims.
Man I remember when that happened too. It was crazy around here. Noone could believe it, then sure enough there were the photos of him being arrested. A day or so later he killed himself. It was kinda surreal.
He was definitely gunning for Pac at the time and I believe it would have been quite the fight. Valero was good (scary power) and at the time Pac was in beast mode so not sure how it would have gone. Probably would have been one for the ages, but outside issues derailed Valero's life. I feel bad for his wife. Just a tragic story.
i think he was a beast, he was a bigger puncher than pacquiao for sure, im not saying hed win against him but it wouldve been interesting. he wouldve continued rising up in weight imagine him against the provos and garcias of the world, he was never in trouble for the most part of his short career and most of them by round 1 KO.
but really we wont know for sure because he was never in serious trouble in the ring, i think the toughest competitions would just bring the best out of him.
i personally think, he wouldve done better against marquez than pacquiao did.
He was actually all chummy with the president/dictator of his country so I highly doubt that.
so because Im friends with ***** means that I can stop cats in the country from getting at me. Im speaking more in the lines of the story below. Not many people seem to know or remember this. He use to say he feared for his life and his family's life there. I use to bring it up all the time but there is also a good chance that it was a made up story by him and that he was actually the one who assaulted his wife this time too:
Inexplicably Sunday April 12, Yennifer Carolina Valero for 22 years was shot and attacked by unidentified subject from a motorcycle outside his home in the neighborhood Picon Gabriel Gonzalez del Municipio Alberto Adriani in the state of Merida in Venezuela. She has a wound on his leg with entry hole in front leaving ankle fracture in the fibula, as well hematoma in the upper and lower lip, lacerations on chest.
Yennifer is the wife of Edwin Valero, the current WBC lightweight world champion, who took her to El Vigia II Hospital for emergency care to finally move to the clinic Vargas. Valero after his spectacular triumph over the Colombian, Pitalua, on April 4, in United States traveled to Venezuela with his family where he was received as a national hero.
Yennifer Valero has become an indirect victim of insecurity and violence in that country today. Valero has always expressed love for his country but also their fear of insecurity.
From here we pray to God for his health and send our respects to his family and Valero.
it was reported that Valero's wife was shot by unknown assailants who drove by the fighter's home in Merida, Venezuela on motorcycles this past Sunday.
According to an article that ran in the Venezuelan daily Meridiano this past Tuesday, 22-year-old Yennifer Carolina was admitted to a nearby hospital suffering from a gun wound to her left leg. The bullet reportedly entered her leg near the thigh and exited by her ankle. The story also mentioned that Valero brought his wife to the hospital
I was a big Valero fan I thought he was on his path to greatness. It's no coincidence that every trainer he worked with praised him as one of the hardest workers, heaviest handed and just overall being a beast. Every sparring partner still praises him as being deceitfully good and for being the hardest hitter they've ever faced. I think those people know a lot more than the average joe watching his fights. Supposedly the reason he was a sloppy brawler was because he would get a bonus for a 1st rd KO in Japan.
