Know a trainer who worked with him . Said he was something special. said they were building him up to fight Pac n he woulda beat Pac and become a star if not for what happened . Also told me the story of when Valero gave DelaHoya a black eye in sparring and was released as Oscars sparring partner for the Pac fight .

The last days of his life were really crazy. I still remember the BoxingScene headlines.

He broker his wife's ribs a couple weeks before the last days, she said she tripped down the stairs.

        "Valero stabs wife to death"

"Valero arrested at hotel, says he killed wife"

        "Valero jailed"

        "Valero commits suicide in cell"

He hung himself with his jeans, with a photo of his kids lodged in his mouth.

        This sport leaves many victims.

According to multiple reports in Venezuela, undefeated Edwin Valero was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife. Valero's wife was taken to a hospital in Los Andes. The doctor's report listed several injuries, including a collapsed lung and multiple bruises. Several doctors spoke with the press and said Valero showed up to the emergency room in a very hostile mood and was threatening staff members.

Edwin Valero will move forward with his planned trip to Cuba. He will spend a month in the country with his wife, their two children, trainer Mario Morales and adviser Segundo Lujano. He will train to get his body back into shape and spend additional time in a rehab center to overcome his alcohol problem. He was scheduled to leave on Friday but those plans got cut short after a minor traffic accident at 5am. There were no injuries but Valero was arrested, and later released, for leaving the scene. It's being alleged that Valero had alcohol in his system but none of that information has officially come from the police.

Venezuela - Edwin Valero has been arrested after his wife Jennifer Carolina was found dead in the city of Valencia early this morning. Valero is currently detained at the police station in the state of Carabobo. Close friends and the press in Venezuela are not entirely shocked as the the fighter's life was spiraling out of control and many felt something tragic would happen if the fighter did not receive immediate treatment for his alcoholism and psychological issues.

As reported from Valencia, Edwin "El Inca" Valero took his life in the early morning hours in the cells of the Carabobo Police

Well he past the eye test. He looked like a future star. Personally I always felt Marquez and Pacquiao could beat him but who knows. But lets put into perspective his best win was Demarco, and if you wanna be that guy you could say Broner was able to beat Demarco even quicker. Like other have said, we'll never know.

I will admit I was a huge fan of his. When I became a boxing fan Valero was still somewhat of an urban legend. I like many others waited for him to prove himself but we never got that chance. I recommend looking up old videos of him sparring. Watching him straight up rock guys while wearing head gear was impressive.

I dont think he was as good as everyone is making him out to be but KO artist always get a ton of praise in boxing no matter who they are stopping. The Oscar black eye stuff means nothing. That was before the Pac fight and we all saw how Oscar performed. Damn near anyone wouldve given him hell at that point.

To me the stuff about him is more meaningful outside of the ring. Alot of mystery surrounds his death. Was he an abusive mad man that battered his wife, killed her, and then committed suicide or was he the victim of a country who stalked him, wanted to kidnap/kill him for his fame, and was he instead murdered in prison like some suggest. Hard to hang yourself with pants.

Also, if he really was the bad guy, was it all due to his brain injury from the motocycle accident like some NFL players snapping after concussions It all just seemed weird.

Two time champ that fought no one. I think he would have been exposed if he didn't murder his wife and commit suicide when he got caught.
