Come on man, for the hype Cotto has he shouldn't be getting rocked by the Corleys and Torres of the boxing world. Remember, he's being marketed as the next Tito.

To top it off, he's being protected to the ultimate degree (Branco and even Malignaggi who I have winning---these two fighters have done nothing really).

This was a great article with many truths.

        ??

Why is everyone bringing up him getting rocked by corely? You know theres another fighter out there that corely tagged and his name is Floyd Mayweather, so seriously it doesnt make sense. I dont understand why all the Cotto haters are coming out now after a very impressive performance agaist Branco.

This article basically made uncalled for sensationalist statements, but it did touch on some underlying concerns that Cotto fans are wary of.

It didn't look at both sides of this situation. No matter how you slice it...Cotto is undefeated, he has stopped 22 of his 26 opponents (including 6 straight...4 of which had never been stopped before), he has taken on some solid competition in 26 fights, and he ALWAYS has done what it takes to win.

Cotto fans dont use the Gatti vs. Branco excuse, Gatti hurt his hand in the middle rounds and still put Branco on the canvas. It is funny how when Gatti fought Branco ppl were givin Gatti ****, now those same ppl r praising Branco b/c he fought their boy Cotto, ppl on this board r predicable it is the same with Lacy/Calzehe, most ppl had no respect for Joe and now after it most still dont have respect for Joe and now Jeff too.

As for the Malignaggi/Cotto fight I am biased b/c I was one of the few that have been reppin Paulie for the past couple of years now. I am a little worried that Paulie is takin this fight a little too early but we'll see. If I was Paulies trainer i would set up a game plan on how Robinson beat Gatti in the first fight, jump on him in the first rounds dont let him breath, then box his sox off, couple that w/ smothering Cotto on the ropes and just be on a bike the rest of the fight to get the decsion.

I think Paulie is a smarter fighter, quicker fighter, better boxer but the question is can he stand up to Cotto's power does he have the stamina to go a full 12? If the answer is yes Paulie will win June 10th

You know Cotto is much bigger than the weight class he's at now. That's why he spends the days before fights in saunas, jump suits, etc. He's too big for his weight class.

Margarito is a welterweight (Cotto wants to have atleast 2 more fights in light welter.) So what can you do? Be easy his big fight will come this year. With the likes of JLC,Gatti or maybe Hatton. Cotto's resume isn't all good or all that bad. Cotto has faced good fighters!

Miguel has been knocked down once in his 26 pro fight career by a strong puncher so far, by Trinidads 26th fight he was knocked down 4 times. Sounds like he's doing fine to me.

Great points OG, and yes, Cotto is still a little green and could improve in a few areas. I'm just as taken with him out of the ring (the class he shows) as I am with him in the ring. But, not many MEN find that attribute even a good thing in a boxer, let alone commendable. So, I understand why some have alot of negative stuff to say about him. I dislike Paulie very much, so all of that is the reason I hope Cotto spanks him.
All negativities aside, he DOES find a way to get the win.

Yes he seems like a genuinely good guy in and out of the ring.

The thing I hate is how people act like they know who Ricardo Torres was. This is a guy who 99% of this board had NO IDEA about, he came out and gave a great performance that night, but was stopped by a better man in Cotto. After that he was just a bum who fought nobodies in Colombia. The kid had a disgusting KO rate and SHOWED to have quick hands and explosive power in that fight. I think he's better than people think.

The thing that worries me about Cotto is that he looks like he's slowing down trying to make 140. In his fights against Sosa, Maussa, Jukko he looked quick and fluid with all of his movements.

I think that a move to 147 will help him get back some of that quickness and he'll have a lot of success at that weight.
