Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter Discusses Potential Mayweather Bout

SANTA MONICA, California -- Floyd Mayweather and Gennady Golovkin are two fighters with dwindling options for marquee matchups. Of course, it's for entirely different reasons.

Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao remain viable opponents, but a fight seems as far away as ever. Golovkin is perhaps the most avoided fighter in boxing.

Will Mayweather and GGG ever meet? Probably not, but weight class shouldn't be the reason.

Why even talk about this? Floyd is as likely to fight 2 opponents at once as he is to fight Golovkin. It's not even remotely likely.

Floyd won't fight a 5'4 Pacquioao. What makes him think he'll step into the ring with a much bigger GGG?

He's asked the question, his answer makes news because it's Mayweather.

It's good (unintentional) promotion for Golovkin and it gives everyone a chance to laugh at Mayweather so don't knock it.

This is such a non-story I can't believe anyone actually wasted their time writing it. Loeffler is merely saying what everyone already knows. It's up to Floyd.. and TBH what possible reason has FMJ got for facing GGG? Even if he wanted a legacy fight it'd be Cotto at 155 for the lineal MW title.

Ooh let me guess Floyd haters, Now because Floyd, who's a 147 pounder, won't fight a 160 pounder, he's "ducking".

Anyone withing weight reach of Mayweather will be calling him out. Doesn't mean Mayweather will fight them.

Unless of course he can drain GGG to 147.

Well he has already beaten Cotto, and it would be a hollow 155lb MW title when almost everyone considers Golovkin to be the best middleweight right now.

He's 147 when it's convenient but I bet you're quick to point out he's a champion at 5 different weight classes. One of those being 154, which is where GGG would want the fight.
