Ricky done well to get a world title, but he was never that good.

His size advantage was a big plus and he had good stamina, outside of that though he has always been too upright, stiff and well matched.

I'm not European so I don' t really know much of Burns. I first heard his name when Adrien Broner was calling him out or promoters were trying to get them together to fight before Broner moved up. Anyway earlier this year I heard of him again when he signed to fight Crawford which was one of my most anticipated fights this year. Burns wasn't bad but he was getting pieced up by Crawford... I also saw the fight when he got his jaw broken by Beltran(I think). He has a tough chin forreal, he just don't seem to have focus.. His skills are not that bad, I think his problem is more mental than anything.

With that said, I have no desire to watch any of his fights.

...because he was never that good.

Did the best with what he's got and he should be proud. He'll probably end up against Theophane next and lose.

How anyone can talk negatively about Ricky is beyond me.
He embodies so many of the admirable qualities boxers can have.
People talk like you have to unify a division before you can be consider good.

Some good points, some ridiculous ones. What makes you say Burns wasn't good enough? He wasn't handed some paper title, the guy won a super feather belt fair and square over one of the best fighters in the weight and was until recently, Martinez's only loss. Heck, that same Martinez gave goldenboy Garcia hell for some time and managed to KD. Burns went on a winning streak which included Katsidis, Moses and Mitchell, winning some of those by a wide margin or KO.

The guy was very good but sadly his demise has just been so fast. It's hard to figure it out. Have there been training problems? Fitness problems? I think age does play a big part, especially when you get hit as often as you do by a guy as strong as Beltran.

I always thought he was a good domestic level fighter. He just happened to get his hands on a belt, but never really beat a top class fighter.

So I wouldn't say he's done, because he's still more than capable of beating other domestic level fighters. In fact, I'd like to see a rematch with Kevin Mitchell.

He overachieved. I didn't even think he was good enough to beat the likes of Martinez, Mitchell, Katsidis etc so he did pretty well. H

                      Decent fighter. Huge overachiever.

Two weight champion, you'd never have guessed.

                      He's had a good career.
