He'll probably just get injured again, I think the weight he's carrying right now is more than his body is able to deal with, as far as sports are concerned. I'm not sure he would beat Ruiz, I'd sure like to see him do it though lol.

Wow. I am soooo bored of this topic. Let me break it down for you again.

Toney - old, blown-up middleweight, seems injury prone, not really proven at heavyweight. Also showed more skill and fighting spirit in his two outings so far than ANY FIGHTER IN THE TOP 50.

Tangentially, Tyson could no longer beat a speed-bag, let alone a skillful in-fighter with a decent dig...that sounds su****iously like Toney, doesn't it?

Interesting post. I may agree with you, but here's to hoping that you're dead wrong.

I'm picking Toney, but I agree, Ruiz has proven that he's tough enough to (dare I think it?) beat better fighters.

James Toney's skill level speaks for itself and he is one of the most technically proficient fighters in the division. This is why I think he gets such a high ranking from boxing people because the man does have skill, especially in comparison to most other HWs. However his competition at HW has not been the greatest.

So you do have a valid point.

toney is a capable defensive fighter, he can take a punch and doesn't seem to be intimidated of anyone. his presence is good for the growth of the division.

I have been waiting for another good fight from Toney since Jirov. I admire him for what he has done - but not been overly impressed. Look who beat Holy after Toney, and was is a full week after his fight with Toney that Booker got busted for drugs? I would love to see him in there with another capable Heavy - One of the Champs would be great. A fight with John "The Hugging Man" Ruiz would be intersesting because he has the boxing skills that Ruiz has not faced since Jones gave hime a sound whipping - but Toney desent fight like Jones and Ruiz laying on him would be tough for him. Toneys style is an infrount of the guy elusivness - that would be easier to hug against then Jones' where did he go defence. I think Toney could easily out box Ruiz - but I also though Frenz would out box him and Golota.

Indeed young Mike Tyson Jr. you are correct. Toney really has not proven himself at this weight. He defeated Holyfield who is way past his prime, he would have been Kayoed by a prime Holyfield. Toney must defeat a top Heavyweight in order to be taken seriously.

If toney isnt that great and has a big mouth and is rated #5 in WBA, WBC, IBF. Then why r the big guns dodging him? Maybe they know something we dont.

                      Tony Cleans up division

Tony beat an old holyfield that beat a young Rahman. Tony beat a young Booker with one arm. Tony beats any top ten except Vitali. Who takes him? Golotta the polish nut puncher that fought such a stirring fight against Ruiz? Rahman that couldnt handle Holyfield? Outside of Vitali, a healthy Toney cleans up the division. Wait...Nigel Peter? Did you even watch his last fight? That left hook looks like its being thrown under water.
