But Canelo DID carefully pick and choose fights that would make him look good. He's feasted on blown up 140 and 147 pounders.
And now he's fighting Clottey, where he'll look good, because Canelo doesn't like movers.
Bruh. It's called being "brought along." They do it for any credible fighter with hype. You don't go straight to the big leagues and jump in with the best. Example, people were calling Canelo GREEN going into the Floyd fight. So for 40+pro fights, analysts STILL thought he wasn't fully developed into the fighter he can be.
I like Canelo and supported him~ and still think he is a pretty good boxer in terms of his boxing skills.
You have to win in boxing and win impressively to be THE next big thing in boxing, I don't deny Canelo is a star but the path from the number clear 3 maybe number 4 to the top is not usually a smooth one and the guys who managed to pull it off smoothly there was no doubt about their boxing games.
Canelo is going to do exactly what at 160? He isn't making 154 any more so he isn't even in a real weight class currently. Is he going to be the greatest all time Caneloweight (155 on Tuesday when fighting someone bigger but 158 on Thursday when fighting someone smaller)? Asking those question about his future is being real, and based on what Canelo previously done what makes you think anything will change.
He will be the same guy forever unless forced to change and judging by how he is acting I don't think anyone is telling Canelo anything any time soon, so hard to see where real improvement will come from.
Okay:
Canelo can do a lot at 160. Just because YOU don't see a lot in him, doesnt mean other people don't. I see a bright future for him at 160.
As far a the way he fights goes: Don't expect too much change, he is who he is. He's almost 50 fights in, and what you see is what you get. He can work on things because it's always goo to strive for improvement.
Don't expect him to turn into Lara, or something anytime soon.
Every boxer has weaknesses, you don't see Floyd tryin to turn into a brawler and beat guys with force. Don't Canelo to turn into twinkle toes.
Rodriguez Jr. vs. Takayama card - 9,000 attendance
Garcia vs. Salka card - 7,000 attendance
September 6th:
Estrada vs. Segura card - 22,000 attendance
Broner vs. Taylor - 8,115 attendance
I think the taco eaters pay to see their guys fight.
And I said the EBT card toters DON'T support Mayweather.
The casual Mexican-Americans drive the PPV sales IMO. There's Mexicans that live more like the lifestyle in Mexico. Those are the hardcore fans that bought Canelo vs. Angulo and Canelo vs. Lara. Then there's the Mexican-Americans who are more assimilated to the American lifestyle. Those are the casual boxing fans that drive a Mayweather vs. Canelo type fight to 2.2M PPVs.
You're entitled to your opinion that black Americans drive PPV sales though.
Nevermind Canelo/Trout 40,000 in attendance at the Alamodome. We'll just overlook that I guess.
Canelo did take the route of easy fights for a long time.If you're comparing his resume competition to Mayweather you will look very ******. Mayweather fought for a world title against Genero Hernandez after only 17 professional fights. Who was Canelo fighting after 17 fights?
And Canelo doesn't deserve the type of respect you claim after his performance in the Mayweather fight.
this is not about ATG status this is about being the #1 Draw, floyd at 24 wasnt near the draw that canelo is...
I was there, so I can confirm the big Canelo contingent in Grand Rapids. Crowd would've been bigger if it wasn't in the middle of the day on a Wednesday. I had to take off work.
canelo had more fans than floyd on every city in the us for that tour...
